"they will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream.
it does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green.
it has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” -jeremiah 17:8.
this was the key verse in my bible study last night. and, as always, it was exactly what i needed to read. a prayer that i have been praying for over a year was answered yesterday. i knew the outcome of the situation was inevitably going to be disastrous, but i still had faith that somehow, some way the Lord would work it out. and He did. i don't want to give details, but i want to tell you that if you are going through struggles or what seems like a hopeless situation, get in the Word. like the tree in the scripture above, we bear fruit when we study and learn God's Word. like roots by a stream, we soak in His promises, learn right from wrong, and find hope. had i not put my faith in the Lord and studied and soaked in His promises every single day, i would be a complete mess.
"blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night. that person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither— whatever they do prospers." psalm 1:1-3.
